I met my wife, Tina, in our church choir. We both sang as choristers at Our Saviour's Anglican Church, which at the time was located in Area 2, Garki, Abuja. That was sometime in February 2009.
What qualities attracted you to her?
She is God-fearing, natural, well-behaved, homely, and of course, beautiful.
How did you propose to her?
It happened after one of the Sunday services. I had made several advances beforehand. I took her phone number and, once I got home, I called her and began to express my intentions.
What was the most memorable event on your wedding day?
Our wedding day was July 10, 2010. The most memorable moment for me was when she placed the ring on my finger. Each time I reflect on that moment, it still brings tears of joy and deep emotions.
Was financial capability a significant factor you considered before marriage?
No, it wasn't. After our traditional marriage on April 1, 2010, we both agreed to proceed with our church wedding. I started trusting God and holding on to the scripture that says, "He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favour from the Lord."
What lessons have you learned as a husband and father?
I have learned much about living up to my responsibilities as a husband and father, protecting my family as much as I can and being a good role model to my children.
What advice would you give young people planning to marry?
The first thing is, they should be focused. They don't have to wait to make all the money in the world before getting married, as long as they and their partners are of marriageable age. Most importantly, they should know that love conquers all in marriage.
