WALLINGFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- The Connecticut Lottery's 12th annual "Give a Child a Toy, Not a Ticket" holiday toy drive begins this weekend.
This year's CT Lottery toy drive goes from Saturday, Nov. 1 until Friday, Dec. 19. Toy collection sites will be located at participating U-Haul, Fanatics Sportsbook and Cumberland Farms locations across Connecticut. Toys can also be donated at the CT Lottery's headquarters in Wallingford.
All of the collected toys will be donated to Yale New Haven Hospital's Toy Closet, which provides age-appropriate toys for young patients at their pediatric facilities. In the 11 years CT Lottery has been doing the toy drive, more than 30,000 toys have been donated to local community programs during the holidays.
"Each year, this toy drive reminds us what the holiday season is truly about -- giving back and bringing joy to children and families in our communities," CT Lottery President and CEO Frank Suarez said. "At the same time, it's an opportunity to reinforce an important message that lottery tickets are meant for adults, not children."
