Coronation Street's Daniel Brocklebank says 'adore this girl' in co-star exit admission - Manchester Evening News

Daniel Brocklebank has shared his adoration for one of his Coronation Street co-stars as he made an admission about his impending exit.

The actor will mark just over a decade in the role of Billy Mayhew in the ITV soap this December, having made his debut back in 2014, before his exit is due to air in 2026.

Confirming his exit earlier this year, Dan said in a statement: "I have been working on Corrie for a quarter of my life. I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not looked forward to going into work.

"I love everyone who works on this show and whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what the future holds."

At the time, show bosses confirmed that the character will be "tested in ways he never imagined" over the coming months, which will ultimately lead to the him bowing out in a top-secret story.

While his departure is on the cards, Dan confirmed last week that he is still very much still working on the show and took to Instagram on Thursday with a selfie from his dressing room.

Posting the photo from Corrie's Trafford-based set, the soap star could be sporting his character's dog collar and said: "A day of vicaring @coronationstreet."

Now, he's returned to social media with a snap of himself and co-star Harriet Bibby, who plays Corrie's Summer Spellman, as they filmed together.

It was alongside the post the soap star gushed: "A little snap of work today in Roy's Rolls. I utterly adore this girl. She brings sunshine with her wherever she goes and I've been blessed to have her play my daughter these past five years. I shall miss her terribly when I finally depart the cobbles."

In response, Harriet, who was recast in the role of Summer in 2020, commented on the post: "We really have the best time." Their co-star, Lauren Bolton actress Cait Fitton, also commented: "Two beauties with the most infectious smiles."

Fans were also keen to respond. @gatlishmatt said: "You two are the best. Will miss Billy lots when you leave. You portray him brilliantly, Daniel." @xjeankellyx wrote: "Beautiful photo of you both."

@jordsdanx commented: "What a duo, you are both just so precious!!" @michellewest5236 replied: "The cobbles will not be the same without you!" @john.organ added: "We love Billy & Summer in our house ... so sad to break this beautiful team up."
