As Cowboys as It Gets: Watch Riley Green Debut an Acoustic Unreleased Song, Paying Homage to His Dad & Granddaddy

Following Reba's performance at RodeoHouston, Riley Green took the stage and headlined night one of the nearly month-long livestock and rodeo show. For context, RodeoHouston is an annual and official PRCA livestock and rodeo held in Houston, Texas. That being so, Green performed accordingly and surprised the fans in attendance with an incredibly appropriate tune.

After the "Fancy" singer left the stage, Riley Green and his band played a typical show with no major twists or turns. However, given that Riley Green has been consistently teasing new songs, he let the band go and surprised the hard-working folks with an unreleased original song.

After Riley Green gave his band a break, the topical country musician grabbed a barstool, sat down, and started the acoustic portion of his set. In addition, he also told the crowd a little story and provided some context surrounding his unreleased single, "Cowboys As It Gets."

Prior to playing the song, Green stated, "I always thought my daddy was a cowboy in a way. I always thought my grandaddy was a cowboy." "Anybody that worked hard, used their hands, wasn't scared to say what they believe and stand up for what they believe was a cowboy to me." "So I wrote this song. This is my first time playing this song. I hope y'all like it. It's called 'Cowboys As It Gets,'" concluded Riley Green.

Green's tune was certainly applicable to not only the audience members, but also to the hard workers around the country and the world. In the song, Green defines a cowboy not as someone who rides a horse and scores a six-shooter, but as someone who simply works hard with their hands. Some of the song's lyrics are, Don't own a Stetson hat / Just an old snap back from the Co-Op and His Horse was Ford / With a dent in the door.

Of course, after the word about the single spread, fans were urging Green to release a hit. However, he didn't succumb to the peer pressure, and the single merely exists in that arena and on video. So, it seems everyone will just have to wait for "Cowboys As It Gets."
