BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Less than a day after a reported drone was able to close down an airport in New York, PIX11 News obtained an exclusive video of a drone flying Saturday night in Brooklyn.
The video sent to us by a viewer, shows what seemingly appears to be a drone with red and green lights buzzing around.
The drone was spotted flying near an apartment in Bedstuy, Brooklyn, at 8:00 pm.
"The drone was visible from my apartment window for about one minute. I actually heard it first, which drew my attention to the sky. It has a soft humming sound, similar to a helicopter, but not as jarring or loud. Its flight pattern was a bit of a hook pattern from my vantage point. It turns "left" and then flies closer to my apartment before leaving my view. I have been super skeptical about the recent drone sightings and thought that a lot of the videos just looked like airplanes. I thought, 'Wow, maybe all those people aren't totally insane!'
In New York City, a permit is required to take off or land an unmanned aircraft, and operators must be FAA-certified.
PIX11 News contacted the NYPD to find out if any other Brooklyn residents had complained or seen a drone in their neighborhoods. The police did not immediately comment.
