The Beast in Me trailer unveils Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys in chilling cat and mouse thriller - The Mirror

The Beast in Me is a new thriller series coming to Netflix and the streamer has just dropped the official trailer for the show, which stars Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys

Netflix is set to release The Beast in Me soon, and they've just unveiled the official trailer for this gripping thriller.

The spine-chilling sneak peek shows author Aggie Wiggs, portrayed by Claire Danes, coming face-to-face with her new neighbour, Nile Jarvis, played by Matthew Rhys.

Nile was previously a prime suspect in his wife's disappearance, leaving Aggie both terrified and intrigued by him.

Determined to make him the focus of her next novel, she gets closer to him - but has she put herself in harm's way?

The eight-part series also features Brittany Snow as Nina Jarvis and Natalie Morales as Shelley, reports the Express.

Viewers have been quick to share their reactions to the trailer, with @cocobluu posting: "Claire Danes THE FACE with a million emotions - count me in! I can see this will be quite the journey. Matthew Rhys and Brittany Snow are a great bonus. Can't wait."

@kevkeisha chimed in: "THIS... THIS is how you do a proper trailer! I'm sold."

@OUTTAIDEAS88 predicted: "Looks like Claire Danes is gonna bring home another Emmy."

@itsreeeshaaa3650 shared: "I'm so excited about this. Both leads are so talented."

The series also boasts guest appearances from David Lyons as an FBI agent and Jonathan Banks as Martin Jarvis, Nile's father.

Actress and filmmaker Jodie Foster and TV host and writer Conan O'Brien are among the producers on the series.

Showrunner Howard Gordon, known for his work on the Showtime thriller Homeland, is at the helm.

Interestingly, lead actors Danes and Rhys had only seen three scripts when they began filming.

Danes was captivated by the concept when Foster handed her the pilot, penned by creator Gabe Rotter.

"I loved how classic it felt, surprising and faintly Hitchcockian," Danes told Vanity Fair.
