BSG, acting as main contractor on behalf of NI Water, has today (September 4) commenced a three-month pipelaying project on Newcastle Road, Castlewellan in County Down.
Following the completion of some ground investigations in the area earlier this week, works are now underway adjacent to Church Field Heights which will see the installation of a dedicated stormwater pipeline to remove rainwater from the combined system, followed by repairs to existing sewers.-- Advertisement --
Discussing the works, a statement from NI Water said: "NI Water and our project team from McAdam and BSG take this opportunity to thank the public for their patience and cooperation while we undertake this essential work to strengthen the wastewater network and help reduce the risk of out-of-sewer flooding in the area. BSG will strive to keep disruption to a minimum and complete the work in the shortest possible timeframe."
A lane closure will be in place around the working area as the pipelaying progresses towards the roundabout at Main Street. Traffic lights will be in place to manage the flow of traffic which will be manned at peak times to reduce tailbacks.
