It's the start of Spring, which can only mean that Samsung's Galaxy A07 is here to tempt you into buying the same budget smartphone the company launched last year. With just enough changes to allow the South Korean company to stick it in a different box, of course.
Samsung has even kept the Galaxy A06's original price point. You'll pay R2,500 for the company's newest budget handset, while last year's model has dropped to R2,000. If you're not too fussed about internal storage space, the Galaxy A06 might be the choice to make.
That's because the Galaxy A07 is, for the most part, the same phone as the 2024 model. Both feature the same 6.7in 720 x 1,600 display, unsurprising since it was used for the A04 and A05 models as well. The camera layout remains the same as last year, too. A 50MP main sensor holds court, with a 2MP jester alongside on the rear panel. Up front, an 8MP camera lives in the hole punched in the 90Hz display.
Identical Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS support are shared across the A06 and A07, as is the 5,000mAh battery. 25W wired charging sticks around too, but that's just Samsung's battery conservatism and not the company trying to upcycle yet another spec category. Even the weights are similar. The A07 shaves five grams off its brother's 189g weight for this new launch.
As for what's new... that could well get you unlimbering your wallet. Samsung's Galaxy A07 starts with base storage of 128GB, up from a 64GB last year, as well as a minor processor upgrade to the MediaTek Helio G99. It also gets IP54 water- and dust-proofing, meaning that even your budget Samsung handset should survive (some) liquid death. You still don't want to drop it into the bath, however.
Samsung's newest budget phone is now available in South Africa for R2,500. You can have it in either Black or Green shades.
