LEWISTON, ID - The Lewiston Roundup is kicking off tomorrow, September 3rd, and still serves as one of the most anticipated events throughout the LC Valley, going into its 91st year.
The President of the board of directors for Lewiston Roundup, Denny Jones, says preparation for Lewiston Roundup is a year-long process.
"It takes 12 months and we've got long-range planning goals that we're trying to meet yearly," Jones said. "As soon as the roundup's over this year, we will decompress, do some 'after action' reports to see where we did good or bad, and we will immediately start working on next year's rodeo right away."
Jones says the biggest difference this year will not come in the form of an event or activity.
"The new bucking shoots are something we're super proud of," Jones said. "For rider safety and livestock safety, putting these new bucking shoots in has been big for us."
For Lewiston Roundup attendees, there will be no shortage of vendors this year, from food trucks to merchandise.
"This is probably going to be the busiest we've ever had," Jones said. "Of course, we will have all of our own Lewiston Roundup concessions, but everything from corndogs, curly fries, and smoked pork, so there is a little bit of everything out there."
The roundup will go from Wednesday, September 3rd, to Saturday, September 6th, with doors opening at 4:59 pm each night.
