For how productive the Miami Dolphins were last season, this year's team has fallen well short of expectations. Many speculated Miami could challenge the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East this year, but like the New York Jets, this just hasn't been the Dolphins year.
In turn, Tyreek Hill is on pace for his least productive season since his rookie year, excluding his 2019 season, where he missed multiple games. Through 14 games, Hill has just 67 receptions for 805 yards and five touchdowns on 104 targets.
Hill took to social media with a hard-to-interpret post that NFL fans weren't sure what to make of its intention.
Is the future bright because the fortunes of the Dolphins can only improve after a down year? Or because Hill will be on another team next year? There's no way of knowing his meaning from this cryptic post, but that didn't stop NFL fans from chiming in with their two cents.
"Dolphins fan reading this Tyreek tweet like: 'Tyreek wants to be traded to the Jets. He hates us. Burn it down. Fire everyone! This is the worst life has ever been!'" said another, teasing the Miami fan base.
Hill has two years left on his contract. He signed a three-year, $90 million restructured contract extension in August.
If cut before next season, the 30-year-old receiver carries with him a $56.9 million dead cap, and a trade might only work after June 1, as it would give Miami $12.8 million in cap relief and spread the dead cap hit over 2025 and 2026.
In any case, Hill's veiled meaning only creates questions for Dolphins fans.
