Cristiano Ronaldo told not to retire and 'play deep into his 40s' by ex-Man United star

Cristiano Ronaldo is rewriting the rules of longevity in soccer.

At 39 years old, the Portuguese icon is still delivering breathtaking performances for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

With over 900 career goals already to his name, Ronaldo is inching closer to a milestone that seemed impossible: 1,000 goals.

His former Manchester United teammate Mikael Silvestre is confident Ronaldo will achieve this incredible feat.

Reflecting on Ronaldo's relentless determination, Silvestre said, "When he puts his mind to something, he achieves it."

The Frenchman believes Ronaldo's physical and mental fitness will allow him to play well into his 40s, maintaining the elite standards that have defined his career.

Silvestre told Boyle Sports, "Cristiano Ronaldo will reach 1,000 goals and it will be an incredible achievement. For someone to start their career as a winger and then score more goals than Pele is outstanding."

The former Man Utd defender further said, "He is at a level which I think he can remain at for a long time, I think he will play deep into his 40s and break the 1,000 goal barrier and it will be an amazing achievement."

Ronaldo has already surpassed Brazil legend Pele's record, solidifying his place among soccer's greats.

He remains a vital player for both Al-Nassr and Portugal, amassing a staggering 217 international caps. With his sights set on the 2026 World Cup, Ronaldo shows no signs of slowing down.

If he reaches the 1,000-goal mark, it will be a moment that cements his legacy as one of the greatest athletes in history.
