Five walkers take in stunning views on 8-mile walk

This article is brought to you by our exclusive subscriber partnership with our sister title USA Today, and has been written by our American colleagues. It does not necessarily reflect the view of The Herald.

Five of us joined David Szlitkus on his 8-mile walk from Busullow across the Penwith Moors' most notable locations, including Watchcroft, the highest point in West Penwith, Carn Galver, Bosigran, Bosporthenis, Nine Maidens, Ding Dong Mine, and Men an Tol.

We enjoyed great weather and stunning views from the high moors and took in a few ancient sites.

We had six new members join Dick and Denise Bleton, and a party of long-time walkers on a special "new member" walk on a windy day around the historic and curious bits of Penzance.

Fifteen of us in all, with nine retiring to the Dolphin for lunch.

An excellent way for new members to get introduced to walking with WCFPS.

On a beautiful autumn morning, fifteen of us met at Glendurgan by invitation of the National Trust.

We were led through the gardens down to Durgan by Susan Pester and Paul Miller.

We then walked along the coast path to Trerose House and Mawnan, stopping for lunch in Mawnan churchyard with wonderful Helford views.

We returned via Carwinion Woods to Durgan and back through the gardens for afternoon tea.

Thank you to our NT guides for a lovely day.

We have been invited back in April for a walk through the bluebell woods.

The next walk will be on Wednesday, October 22, for a walk from Treen led by Tina Semmens.
