A well-loved Nottingham takeaway restaurant says it has been forced to temporarily close after a fire broke out at the premises - but staff have promised "we'll be back".
Mega Munch, on Angel Row, is synonymous with students and city dwellers as a final pit stop for kebabs, chips, and pizzas after nights out.
Open until 4am every day, clubbers can often be seen queuing out the doors to be served in the early hours of the morning.
In 2022, the England Cricket Team were even spotted enjoying a few kebabs at the takeaway at the end of a night out after a win against New Zealand.
But after a fire broke out at the takeaway on Sunday (September 28), the owners say they have been left with no choice but to temporarily close.
Nottingham Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called to the road at 8:49am, with two crews in attendance.
The fire has since been found to have started in a duct above the kitchen area.
When Nottinghamshire Live visited the store on Wednesday, October 1, debris and rubble was visible through the windows, with signs reading 'we will open soon' put up by the owners.
In a statement shared to TikTok, Mega Munch's owners said they had had to temporarily close but promised, "We'll be back soon."
"We would like to thank you for all your kind words. We did face an unfortunate incident in the early hours of this morning which has meant we have had to close up temporarily," the statement, signed off by 'the Mega Munch family,' said.
Upon discovery of the restaurant's temporary closure, many regular customers have taken to social media to share their heartbreak.
One user on TikTok said: "I don't even live in Notts anymore and I'm genuinely devastated," while another added: "Nottingham doesn't feel the same".
An online fundraiser via GoFundMe has even been set up, with the hopes of raising money to repair the damage caused by the fire.
The fundraiser reads: "If you've lived in Nottingham or come as a student, you know Mega Munch - it's the place that's always been there for us after a night out.
"A few days ago, Mega Munch had a fire, and it's completely heartbreaking.
"They've given so much to us as a community, and now they need our help to get back on their feet".
