Ambrose A. Murphy, 81, of Center Point, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, with his spouse by his side at the Freedom Square Health Care Center in Seminole, Florida. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 until 4 p.m. with a Sharing Time starting at 3 p.m. on September 13, 2025, in the Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Ambrose was born on August 25, 1943, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, to Marie (Rachor) and Frank Murphy. On December 26, 1964, he married his beloved wife, Georgia Betsinger. Together they shared more than 60 years of marriage filled with love, laughter and devotion. He spent his career in manufacturing, working for Nissan Corporation and Apache Hose in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, before officially retiring in 2009. Ambrose cherished time spent outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with family and friends. He also loved hosting and cooking for family gatherings, where his humor brought everyone together.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia; three sons, Mike (Pam) Murphy, Tim (Cliff Smith) Murphy, and Todd (Angie) Murphy; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Lou Wood; and sister-in-law, Sherri Murphy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ann Murphy and Rosella (Richard "Dick") Netolicky; and brother, Francis Murphy.
Ambrose will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
