SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) -- No one has to fight blood cancer alone and advocates are working to bring light to the darkness of cancer.
WSAV spoke to Katherine Welch about the upcoming about the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light The Night Savannah Southeast.
While blood cancer survival rates have increased, but there's still research and work to be done.
According to the National Cancer Institute, the five-year survival rate for leukemia is 67.8%, for non Hodgkin lymphoma is 74.3% and Hodgkin lymphoma is 88.9%.
At The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night, friends, families, schools, corporate teams and sponsors gather as a community to celebrate, honor and remember those touched by blood cancers.
The fundraising campaign for Light The Night will kick off June 4.
It will take place on Nov. 20, 2025, at the Park at Eastern Wharf, located at 101 Port Street.
