WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Milo, a Boxer mix featured on WWAY's Pet Pals segment back in September, has found his forever home, thanks to a connection made through the show.
Renee Perrin saw Milo during an interview on Good Morning Carolina's, and says she was immediately drawn to his soulful eyes.
"There was something about him that I just really, really connected with. It was like 'I just want him,'" she said.
Soon after, Perrin brought Milo into her family, adopting him from the New Hanover Humane Society. She says his presence has been life-changing.
"He's definitely made a big difference in my life," she shared. "I find myself not sitting on the couch watching TV all the time. I get up and walk him, start losing a little weight. He loves the beach, loves car rides."
Milo has also been a great addition to Perrin's family, which includes her daughter, and a chihuahua named Chico.
"He definitely makes my daughter feel safer, you know, having -- other than a Chihuahua -- having this guy around. So it's really been a blessing to have him in the house," she said.
Perrin credits the Humane Society for making the adoption process seamless, and encourages others to consider adopting from local shelters.
"If people are out there that can adopt, I think they should. Because, you know, it's pretty sad in those little kennels. But they need a home, too, and a bed to snuggle in," she said.
Perrin hopes Milo's story will inspire others to open their hearts and homes to a pet in need.
