NEW YORK -- It didn't take long for the Rangers to suffer a casualty in the cold, wet weather at Yankee Stadium Wednesday.
Catcher Jonah Heim left the game in the bottom of the second inning after his flared single appeared to affect his right hand. Heim was seen shaking the hand when he got to first base, but came out for warmups for the bottom of the second inning.
The team later said Heim has a compressed nerve in his right hand.
Rangers starter Jacob deGrom, however, had to stop his warmup pitches while Heim was attended to by athletic trainer Matt Lucero.

After Heim tried to throw a ball back to the mound and was wide by more than six feet, he left the game and was replaced by Tucker Barnhart. Kyle Higashioka was already in the game as the DH.
