Car show raising money for young girl after tree fell on her

SABINA, Ohio (WXIX) - The car show community is coming together to raise money for a Clinton County girl who was severely injured after a tree fell on her.

According to Jesse Dabe, a tree fell on his daughter Ezra, 9, the day before Easter when she was jumping on a trampoline with friends. Dabe says it crushed her under the debris.

Dabe told FOX19 NOW over the phone that Ezra broke her collarbone and left arm. The three also amputated her big toe. According to the father, doctors told them Ezra could have pins in her arm for up to a year. Dabe says she's lost feeling in her left hand because she suffered nerve damage.

According to Max Sprague, his wife's grandchildren were also injured because they were on the trampoline with Ezra.

"She had crushing injuries to her neck that were so severe, the doctor says they are the worst he's ever seen, and they got that baby in a big collar right now," Sprague told FOX19 NOW on Wednesday.

Sprague spent decades in the car show community and recently retired, but he decided to come back in the game to help Ezra.

"I looked over at my wife and said, 'Honey, you know how I am about kids... we gotta help this baby,'" Sprague said.

Sprague made some phone calls, and a car show will take place Saturday, May 31, at the Sabina Municipal building.

"Everything we raise will go right to them; there will be no cuts."

You can register your car for $10. The event will also have music and a raffle. It will run from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Registration is from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with awards ending the event at 3:00 p.m.

If you are a part of the car, bike, truck, or jeep community, you can call Sprague at 937-509-1612.
