Castor High School knows just how blessed they are to have Brittney Lea on staff!
That's because it was another staff member who actually wrote to us to tell us about this incredible human!
When I opened Brittney's nomination letter that was beautifully penned by Macie Wood, you could literally feel the love and admiration she felt for Brittney.
Of course, reading the letter myself, I easily knew that Brittney had to be named this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award.
If I could change the definition of "selfless" in the dictionary, I would simply put her name. I have been blessed to work alongside Brittney as high school English teachers for the past three years. In those years, I have never heard her utter a negative word about anyone. In those years, I have watched her spend countless hours and money out of her own pocket to ensure our students have everything they need to succeed and more. Whether it's traveling hours away to go to sporting events and being their biggest cheerleader, helping students with dual enrollment classes, or taking students to FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) district, state, and nationals trips, she is spending so much of her own time and money on our students. I also have the privilege of being the junior class sponsor alongside her, and with that comes putting on junior/senior prom. Every year, s he spends so much out of her own pocket to ensure that our students' prom is the best it can be. She wants the memories they make to be ones they're proud of. Brittney also volunteers at her church's food pantry. Once a month, they give out free food to the needy. However, it takes much more than that one day a month to make sure the pantry and stocked and ready for the people of our area. Birthdays and holidays, Brittney is the first one to make you feel special. She does all of these things without any fanfare or pomp and circumstance. She simply does it because her heart is one of the most pure and selfless I have ever came across. She is the epitome of showing people God's love through action. Brittney would never want recognition for herself, but if anyone deserves it, it is her. She makes me a better person just by being in her orbit. She inspires our students daily, and that is something that is incredible to witness. If the world had more people like Brittney, it would be a much better place.
Brittney Lea, because you've been 'Caught in the Act', John and the gang at the Magnolia Pit have a $50 gift certificate for you to come enjoy a great meal!
Take a listen to the phone call we made to Brittney to let her know that she was this week's Caught In The Act Award recipient.
