Fans at Yankee Stadium greet Trump with mix of cheers and jeers

WASHINGTON (TNND) -- President Donald Trump was met with a mix of boo's and cheers while he attended a Yankees game on Thursday evening.

Trump also did a meet and greet with Yankee players. He shook their hands and exchanged pleasantries, assuming the team was going to win. The team was set to face the Detroit Tigers.

"We won every time I came," Trump told players, showing how much of a fan he is.

En route to the game, reporters asked the president if he was concerned for his safety. The question came in the wake of Charlie Kirk's assassination at an event on a university campus on Wednesday. Trump told reporters he was not concerned for his safety; he was concerned for the safety of the country.

"We have a great country and we have a radical left group of lunatics out there," Trump said. "I'm only concerned for the country."

Thursday also marks the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, which occurred on September 11, 2001.

Nearly 3,000 people were killed when hijackers crashed jetliners into the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon in Virginia, and a field in southwest Pennsylvania during the attacks. More than 2,700 of the victims died in the fiery collapse of the trade center's twin towers.

Vice President JD Vance shifted his 9/11 plan after he flew from Utah to Arizona with Kirk's casket on Air Force Two.
