BCA extends Irrinova Darek scheme application deadline - The Malta Independent

The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) has extended the application period for the Irrinova Darek scheme until 15 September 22025, after the Government increased funding to allow more families to benefit.

Launched on 23 July, the scheme has drawn strong interest, particularly from homeowners in the Northern region. The additional funds will enable the Authority to accommodate more requests and encourage sustainable home renovation.

BCA Chief Executive Officer, Architect Roderick Bonnici, said the scheme had shown how willing homeowners are to invest in their properties when supported. He explained that the two-week extension would reach more families while strengthening the overall quality of buildings in Malta.

The Minister responsible for Justice and Construction Sector Reform said the extension reflects the Government's commitment to helping Maltese and Gozitan families make their homes more sustainable.

First introduced in 2022 for residents of the Port Region, this year the scheme was extended to the Northern Region, covering Attard, Balzan, Naxxar, Mellieħa, Mġarr, Mosta, Imtarfa, San Ġwann and San Pawl il-Baħar. Under the Local Councils Act, it is expected to expand in the coming years to the Southern, Eastern, Western and Gozo regions.
