SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. - A Spokane County employee, Ryan Becker, has been facing challenges due to an extremely rare skin condition, but he will keep his job, at least for now.

Earlier this month, Becker received a notice from the county stating that they were proceeding with termination because his doctors couldn't provide a 'return to work' date.

Since NonStop Local aired Becker's story, his fellow union members have shown overwhelming support.

His coworkers have donated more than 80 hours of paid time off through a county program called Shared Leave.

This support will carry him through to June 7, when he can apply for long-term disability.

Becker was diagnosed with Pyoderma Gangrenosum, having all three subtypes, which is extremely rare.

Even doctors at Johns Hopkins and the Mayo Clinic were perplexed by his condition.

However, he's now on an experimental trial, and it appears to be working.

While his progression hasn't slowed, the size of his scars has shrunk.

In addition to the medical trial, Becker has received more good news.

Through his union, he will have medical insurance coverage through the end of the year.

Ryan and his wife Mikkel expressed their gratitude for the support they have received.

"Here's God, who just had his provision all along and has showed us so much love, and love through the goodness of people. Just amazing," Mikkel said.

"I can't even begin to express my gratitude in ways that are even remotely suitable," Ryan added.

However, the situation remains uncertain.

After 12 weeks, the county will reassess his position, potentially requiring him to go through the process again.

Meanwhile, the Becker family is letting the good news sink in and focusing on healing.
