Colby Covington names the two opponents he's targeting for 2025 return including long-time welterweight rival

Colby Covington has never been afraid to try and speak his plans into existence.

The former interim welterweight champion hasn't fought in 2025 as of yet after suffering a TKO loss to Joaquin Buckley last December.

Covington has recently targeted the UFC's White House event, by claiming that President Donald Trump specifically requested for him to be on the card.

While Dana White recently provided a positive update on the White House event, it doesn't look like 'Chaos' wants to sit on the sidelines until then.

In a recent interview with Helen Yee Sports, Colby Covington named two opponents that he's interested in fighting in his next outing.

'Chaos' is currently coming off of back-to-back losses for the first time in his career, after being convincingly beaten by Leon Edwards in December of 2023 before returning the following year on short notice.

The controversial UFC star's two picks for his next opponent are drastically different in terms of how realistic they might be for him.

At UFC 314 earlier this year, Covington and Paddy Pimblett got into an altercation, and though 'The Baddy' is one of the top lightweights in the world, the American is trying to tempt him to move up a division.

His second option seems like a much more suitable matchup considering where both men are at in their careers right now, with Covington being labelled as the most overrated fighter in the division by a long-time rival.

"The Paddy Pimblett fight super interests me because in Miami, he was talking s -- , running his mouth backstage... He was saying in an interview the other day, his doctor said he had liver failure from cutting to 155.

"Dude, come up a weight class. Come to 170. Why are you being a weight bully, Paddy? You're a bum. You're a gimmick. You're a f -- -- , little English accent and your little bowl cut, that's the only reason people know you. So, let's get it going Paddy and if I can't get Paddy, then maybe Gilbert Burns."

Colby Covington mapped out when he hopes to return before he named the two opponents that he's interested in fighting.

The 37-year-old told Helen Yee Sports that he's already been having conversations with the UFC about his next outing taking place over the next few months.

Covington isn't too concerned about when and where the fight happens, though it's clear that he wants to compete at some point this year.

"I've been talking to Hunter Campbell and we're looking for October and November. Maybe November in the Garden. But, whatever Hunter and the UFC decides, I'll be ready. If they need to push me to December in the T-Mobile event, then December in Vegas sounds good."
