If you didn't, don't worry. Although this was the first total lunar eclipse since 2022, another one is coming in under a year, so you have time to plan.
When is the next total lunar eclipse?
According to NASA, the next total lunar eclipse visible from the U.S. is on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
A few months later, there will be a partial lunar eclipse on Aug. 27-28.
However, if you want to zip over to Europe, Africa, Asia or Australia you can see a total lunar eclipse on Sept. 7 this year.
After that, you'll have to wait until June 26, 2029 to see a total lunar eclipse here in the states.
What is a total lunar eclipse?
In a solar eclipse, the moon passes in front of the sun and temporarily blocks it from sight, casting the Earth in darkness.
In a lunar eclipse, the Earth's shadow -- called the umbra -- blocks the sun's light from hitting the full moon, resulting in a dimmer moon with a distinct red and orange cast. It's also called a blood moon.
When is the next solar eclipse?
There's a partial solar eclipse coming on Saturday, March 29, 2025.
There will also be total solar eclipses coming in 2033 (totality only in Russia and Alaska) and 2044 (totality only in Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota).
But if you can hold out, Florida will be in the path of totality for a total solar eclipse in Aug. 12, 2045.
