A 19-year-old teen from Koothuparamba in Kerala's Kannur succumbed to a severe eating disorder. The teen reportedly followed a YouTube crash diet of consuming hot water to lose weight. Per reports, she survived without consuming solids for not less than five-six months. All the while, her family was oblivious to the teenager's quest to shed some weight.
The teenager identified as Sreenanda suffered and passed away due to anorexia nervosa, per the official report. She was a first-year student at the Pazhassi Raja NSS college in Mattannur.
Per her family members, she hardly ate anything for some months and was struggling with the issue for about a year. Per reports, she was taken to the Kozhikode Medical College and Hospital, where the doctors advised a proper diet along with a psychiatric consultation.

Two weeks ago, the girl's blood sugar dropped and she also struggled to breathe. Per Dr. Nagesh Prabhu, who treated the patient at the Thalassery Cooperative Hospital for ten days, Sreenanda's BP and pulse were very weak. He stated that her blood sugars were between 40 and 50 along with very low electrolytes. Due to low intake of food, the teenager's internal organs, including the intestines and stomach, sustained damage. She was kept on ventilator support. Per other reports, the girl's weight crashed to a mere 24 kilos and was severely underweight. Unfortunately, her condition was way past any medical intervention.
