Iraq vows to prevent threats against Iran from its territory

TEHRAN, Oct. 21 (MNA) - Iraqi National Security Adviser assured that Iraq will never allow its soil to be used for any act that threatens Iran's sovereignty or national security.

In a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi in Tehran on Monday, the Iraqi national security adviser, Qasim al-Araji presented a report on his meetings in Iran and the progress made in implementing the bilateral security agreement, reaffirming the Iraqi government's strong determination and full commitment to carrying out the accord.

Commending the solidarity and national cohesion of the Iranian people in confronting foreign aggression, al-Araji assured that Iraq would never allow any threat to Iran's sovereignty and national security to emanate from its territory.

For his part, Araqchi referred to the close and growing relations between Tehran and Baghdad in all fields, emphasizing the need for continued consultations between the two countries' officials and for strengthening cooperation in security affairs, particularly border security.

The two officials further exchanged views on regional developments, with special focus on the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Expressing concern over the continued violations of the Gaza ceasefire by the Zionist regime, both sides stressed the responsibility of the international community to prevent genocide and crimes in Gaza and to ensure the delivery of essential aid to its people.

The two officials also discussed the latest developments in Lebanon, underscoring the need for concerted efforts and cooperation among Islamic countries to confront the Zionist regime's aggression and expansionist policies.
