Bajaj Electricals has signed an MoU with the TIH Foundation for IoT & IoE at IIT-Bombay to jointly build AI-driven "Smart Streetlight Control" solutions aimed at improving energy efficiency, safety and reliability across Indian smart-city projects. The first phase will focus on an AI-based lighting platform, with the collaboration expected to expand to broader urban-infrastructure use cases over time.
The MoU was signed at Bajaj's R&D centre (AB Square) in Mumbai, with participation from Bajaj leadership (including CTO Anand Joshi and COO Rajesh Naik) and TIH leadership (Kiran Shesh, Dr. Prasad Ramanathan, Dr. Ashwini Gajarushi). Both sides highlighted the goal of setting new benchmarks in smart-city lighting through a robust industry-academia partnership.
Specific technical and project details remain confidential, but the partners aim to pilot and scale an intelligent street-lighting stack that can be extended to other urban infrastructure needs. Bajaj noted the collaboration fits its long-running innovation agenda and track record on marquee lighting projects.
