Vaishnavi Chandrashekhar is a CASI Fall 2025 Visiting Fellow. She is an award-winning science and environment journalist based in Mumbai. She has worked as a reporter and editor for more than two decades, including stints at The Christian Science Monitor in Boston and The Times of India in Mumbai, where she is currently an Editorial Consultant and a Contributing Correspondent for Science. Vaishnavi specializes in writing on environment, science, and development, especially climate change, and urbanization in India. Her work has appeared in a wide range of publications, including The Caravan, The Guardian, The Atlantic, Mongabay, and more. She has received several awards for her work including a Fetisov Award for environmental journalism and a US National Academies Eric and Wendy Schmidt Award for Science Communication (2023). She has an MA in Journalism (Science) from Columbia University in New York.
