Fox Sports college football voice Joel Klatt has looked at this week's matchup between the Clemson Tigers and Georgia Tech and made a final score prediction ahead of the ACC opener for both teams.
On the Thursday edition of his podcast, the lead analyst on Fox's "Big Noon Saturday" games reiterated that he was concerned about the Tigers' 1-1 start to the season, which included a lackluster showing on offense in their 17-10 loss to LSU and their first-half woes against Troy last Saturday in an eventual 27-16 win.
Klatt pointed out that Clemson has been missing star receiver Antonio Williams, who went down with a hamstring injury on the Tigers' second offensive series against LSU. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said on his weekly radio show Monday that Williams was still "day-to-day."
"Dabo called him their best player. They're clearly not right with him not on the field," Klatt said of Williams.
But the bigger question mark for Klatt is the health of Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King (lower body injury), who didn't play in the Yellow Jackets' 59-12 win over Gardner-Webb last week and is questionable for Saturday's game.
Georgia Tech coach Brent Key said earlier this week that King "looks good" and that the team would make a determination on his status closer to kickoff.
Klatt then made his final score prediction for Saturday's game.
Klatt closed by saying he expected to see more urgency from the Tigers this week.
Clemson is ranked No. 11 in this week's US LBM Coaches Poll and No. 12 in the AP Top 25. Georgia Tech is unranked following a 2-0 start but received the third-most votes (78) for top 25 consideration in the AP poll.
Kickoff for Clemson vs. Georgia Tech is scheduled for noon ET at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta. The game will be televised on ESPN. Bob Wischusen and Louis Riddick will have the TV call of the game.
