Popular Lehigh Valley steakhouse to relocate after nearly two decades

A Lehigh Valley steakhouse will temporarily close as it leaves behind Nazareth for newer pastures.

Rios Brazilian Steakhouse will open one last time Sunday at 127 S. Broad St. in Nazareth before it moves and reopens Wednesday at the Easton Circle in Easton, it announced online.

"Thank you, Nazareth, for giving us 17 unforgettable years," the announcement said. "And thank you to everyone who has sent us love and encouragement during this transition -- your words keep us going. We've been working hard to bring something special to the city of Easton, and we can't wait to serve you there. We hope to see all of our loyal customers (and new ones too!) at our Easton location."

The Brazilian steakhouse, or churrascaria, opened in 2008 and serves picanha, sausage, ribs, chicken, Brazilian cheese bread, tiramisu, flan, wine, beer and cocktails.

Edson Geleski, who owns the restaurant with his wife Dina, said they decided to move to accommodate the growing customer base at the larger location at 64 Centre Square, replacing the former Bayou restaurant. They will keep the same menu and offer outdoor seating.

The move might ultimately be for the best, but given the 17 years of time and memories at the Nazareth location, "it's very hard," Geleski said.

The new Easton restaurant will open at 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Final reservations will be at 9 p.m. for all of those days. Alongside using OpenTable, customers can use the same phone number, 610-614-1018, for reservations.
