Syracuse men's soccer fell 1-0 to Duquesne on Friday night at SU Soccer Stadium despite dominating much of the match.

The Orange fired 17 shots, including nine on target, but could not break through against goalkeeper Diego Chavez.

Syracuse (2-2-1) controlled the first half, outshooting the Dukes 10-2 and generating several scoring chances. Carlos Zambrano and Chimere Omeze nearly capitalized, while Sachiel Ming's free-kick missed high after a foul in the 21st minute. The breakthrough came instead for Duquesne in the 62nd, when Hakon Dagur Matthiasson intercepted a pass and slotted home the game's only goal.

The Orange pushed forward late, earning six corner kicks and forcing multiple saves, but the equalizer never came. The match featured 27 total fouls, including a yellow card to Duquesne's Grant McIntosh in the 70th minute.

Box Score

Syracuse continues its homestand on Monday, September 8, against New Haven at 7 p.m.
