As much as the world may wish Elon Musk, the world's richest man, would simply enjoy his wealth and focus on the products he builds, his purchase of Twitter -- renamed X -- and the dramatic changes he has imposed on it have made him an ever-present figure in the lives of millions. By controlling what is amplified, how algorithms prioritise issues, and what voices are given prominence, Musk can single-handedly steer global discourse in directions that serve his interests. And for those observing his behaviour closely, it appears he is waging a deliberate campaign -- one aimed at stoking racial conflict in the United Kingdom.
Among all the global issues he could fixate on, Musk's focus on Britain is striking. Despite being a South African living in the United States, he frequently comments on British laws and race relations. Lately, his obsession has taken a darker turn, as he increasingly targets Muslims in the UK -- particularly Pakistani Muslims -- by falsely linking them to crimes, especially sexual assault.
Many of the articles Musk promotes collapse under scrutiny, rife with omissions, distortions, or outright falsehoods. The narrative he pushes -- that Pakistani Muslims, and other migrant communities, are disproportionately responsible for sexual violence in Britain -- is not only misleading but statistically false. Official data show white Britons are equally represented in such crimes. Yet Musk's platform has also elevated extremist groups and figures such as Tommy Robinson, a notorious agitator with links to Zionist networks and funding from Israel. This, combined with Musk's framing, suggests an attempt to shift public outrage away from Israel's actions in Gaza and redirect it towards Muslims in the UK.
The Pakistani embassy should take firm notice of this campaign and engage both the British government and Musk's representatives. This is not free speech but propaganda -- designed to inflame racial tensions in Britain and destabilise communities already under immense pressure.
