TAIPEI (Taiwan News) -- Keelung Port issued a press release on Monday reminding the public that its airspace is a drone-restricted zone, with violators facing fines ranging from NT$300,000 to NT$1.5 million (US$9,800-49,000).
The port said seven drone jammers have been deployed to prevent unauthorized operations. It warned that drones threaten port facilities, pose a risk to vessel navigation, and violate Article 36, Paragraph 1 of the Commercial Port Law.
Those flying drones without a permit will be stopped or removed using the jammers, with the Keelung Harbor Police and Maritime and Port Bureau responsible for maintaining safety.
Citizens wanting to operate drones near the port should apply for approval with the Civil Aeronautics Administration. More information is available on the administration's website, the port said, urging the public to comply with the law to avoid penalties.
