SIBLEY, Iowa -- A Sibley man faces a charge of sexual abuse after authorities alleged he impregnated a 15-year-old girl and fathered her child.

Darvin Martinez Niz, 22, was arrested Monday on one count of third-degree sexual abuse, a Class C felony that carries a 10-year prison sentence.

According to a complaint filed in Osceola County District Court, authorities conducting a domestic abuse investigation at a Sibley residence in June were informed Martinez Niz had had a sexual relationship with the girl, who was 15 years old when she conceived a child. Martinez Niz was 20 years old at the time.

DNA testing later showed Martinez Niz was the father of the girl's child.
