MOKANE -- The Fatima Comets led wire-to-wire Tuesday night, pulling away late for a 52-39 victory against the South Callaway Bulldogs.
Fatima scored the game's first six points and led 15-7 after one quarter. South Callaway kept the game close, trailing 27-20 at halftime.
Logan Kliethermes hit a 3-pointer before the buzzer to extend the Comets' lead to 40-32. A 3 by Colten Crocker cut the Bulldogs' deficit to 42-37 with 5:15 to play, but Fatima answered with a 10-2 run to end the game.
Xavier Stuecken had a game-high 19 points for the Comets, scoring eight of the team's first 10 points. Max Stuecken and Matthew Robertson each added 14 points.
Graden Pontius had a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs. Tucker Jones tallied 10 points and five rebounds and Crocker chipped in 10 points and five assists.
Fatima (3-2) hosts Hannibal tonight.
South Callaway (3-2) plays Monday at Blair Oaks.
