Bees magnificent seven sees undefeated start to league season go on

BRIDPORT took their unbeaten League run to eight games with a seven goal demolition of Okehampton Argyle on Saturday.

The visitors were in trouble from the start when Sol Ayunga forced a save from Okehampton keeper Jack Arthur in the fifth minute.

However, in the next minute a throw-in into The Okes box was headed powerfully in by Fred Parsons for 1-0.

Argyle's Adam Beardsmore sent a shot over the bar from the edge of the box with ten minutes on the clock, but this was to be one of the few highlights of the afternoon for the Devon club.

The next twenty minutes or so meandered by with neither club getting anywhere near a meaningful attempt on goal with the Bees Luke King's looping a header over the keeper and the bar being the only real attempt on goal from either side.

Two goals in two minutes with ten minutes left in the half, effectively ended the game as a contest when a left wing run by Owen Kemp saw him feed Parsons who fired home for 2-0. A minute later, Arthur in the visitors goal could only parry a shot with Sam Fisher gleefully firing the ball home for 3-0.

Bridport started the second half camped in their opponents half with Parsons notably forcing a save and Ayunga twice being adjudged to be marginally offside.

Just after the hour mark Nathan Colley and Tyler Little sent in shots to no avail for Okehampton, but this just seemed to irritate the Bees.

Two goals midway through the half with a daisy cutter from the edge of the box by Fisher, followed by a run from the halfway line, courtesy of a clearance from his box by goalie Jordon Scadding, by Ayunga, made it five.

Bridport got their sixth when a cross by Alec Thomas was fumbled by the hapless Okehampton keeper into his own net with twelve minutes to go and in the second minute of added time substitute Issac House made it a magnificent seven with a shot from the edge of the penalty area leaving The Bees with a cumulative score in their last four games of 24-2.

The results leaves Bridport sitting second in the table, two points behind Bovey Tracey. The two sides are they only remaining teams to have not lost a league game all season after eight matches.

Next up for Chris Herbst side is a trip to Torrington on Saturday, September 27.
