Jupiter man killed in hit-and-run; PBSO searches for suspect

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) -- A Jupiter man was killed by a hit-and-run driver early Saturday morning while walking near the center line of the roadway in Boynton Beach.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO) said 60-year-old Robert Elsmore was pushing an empty wheelchair when struck from behind while walking near the 6000 block of Old Congress Road around 2 a.m.

Elsmore was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival.

The vehicle left the scene, and investigators determined that the vehicle parts found at the scene identify the car as a dark blue or black Honda.

The investigation is ongoing.
