GENTRY -- Gentry (1-0) relied on a balanced offensive attack and stout defensive play to win its season opener over Stilwell, Okla.

Gentry ran to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, and then scored 14 points in the second quarter on a 23-yard run by Atreyu Banks and an interception return for a touchdown by Noah Palacio. Stilwell's Chase Benham ran 5 yards for a touchdown, but a two-point conversion attempt failed, giving the Pioneers a 21-6 lead at halftime.

Gentry quarterback Talan Williams threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Palacio in the third quarter to put the Pioneers ahead 28-6.

Stilwell scored on a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter, but a two-point conversion attempt failed, cutting Gentry's lead to 28-12. The Pioneers stopped a Stilwell drive by forcing a fumble and returning it 14 yards for a touchdown.
