Blake Shelton Honors Vets, Jennifer Lopez Makes Out With Dancers In Baffling Awards Show

The 2025 American Music Awards aired Memorial Day, but if you blinked, you may have been lucky enough to miss it.

The show wrapped in just under two hours, putting a quick end to the chaotic series of events that left many fans utterly confused. The majority of the awards that were handed out were not televised. Jennifer Lopez traipsed around the stage half naked in a desperate plea for attention, and just when it seemed things couldn't get any worse, she decided to make-out with her dancers - both male and female.

Blake Shelton was a saving grace - he paid tribute to the vets that served our country in a genuine way, and performed against the backdrop of the American flag before emphatically pointing to a pin he wore proudly on his shirt.

The quick pace of the program made it hard to absorb much of what was happening.

Fans took to social media wondering why the award presentations were so limited, and the internet quickly populated with questions about what happened to all the other winners and categories they were expecting.

Lopez' numerous, revealing outfits seemed to take up more air time than the actual distribution of awards.

The famous singer hit the stage in a number of dresses with plunging necklines, leaving very little to the imagination. Her opening act was a mash-up of songs set to raunchy choreography allowing Lopez to demonstrate the depths of her self-indulgence. She made it a point to kiss a male back-up dancer before she proceeded to solidify her talentless existence by making out with a female dancer.

The cameras panned long enough to capture some of the hideous fashion fails, including Heidi Montag's awkward wig, worn with a sparkly blue top and pant set that looked like it was right out of the circus.

Singer Rebecca Black thought it would be cool to wear a dress that looked like a discarded wedding gown retrieved from a dumpster, and country music star Lainey Wilson wore a floral black pantsuit and matching shawl with patterns that clashed terribly. Sexyy Red and Sza's dresses were worn so low that they needed nipple stickers to keep things PG.

Thankfully, there were some redeeming moments in the show.

Janet Jackson humbly accepted the Icon Award and performed on a live televised stage for the first time in 7 years.

"I am so, so honoured. I am so grateful," she began.

"I mean no disrespect in any way, but I don't consider myself an icon," Jackson said.

"My family, myself -- our dream wasn't ever to be famous. We weren't raised like that. We always had a special love for music, dancing, and singing, and fame came with the result of hard work and dedication."

Jackson continued, "My story, my family's story, it's truly an American story. This would have only happened in America."

"The one thing that I hope for is that I've been an inspiration to others and artists to follow their dreams and succeed."

Rod Stewart put on an impressive performance after his children paid tribute to his 6-decade long career and handed him the hardware for his Lifetime Achievement Award.

Gwen Stefani put on a solid show that included her epic hit "Holla Back," and Zac Brown received the first-ever Veterans Voice Award. Eminem earned the award for favorite male Hip Hop Artist and acknowledged the honor with a recorded video message. (RELATED: Halle Berry Begs For Attention In Sleazy Social Media Post)

The best part is that it's over, and we're free from award shows - for now.
