With three weeks to go in the N.F.L. season, 23 teams can still make the 14-team playoffs. One division, the N.F.C. West, has all four teams still (mathematically) alive.

To sort through the scenarios, we've constructed tables below that illustrate each team's paths to the playoffs -- and to better seeds.

The tables take into account the remaining schedule when calculating odds. For instance, the Steelers are just one game behind the Bills for A.F.C. seeding, but our model calculates it will be harder for them to catch up because the Bills only have games left against losing teams (Jets once, Patriots twice).

One note: These calculations don't account for ties. The last tie was in 2022. If there is one in the last three weeks, it could complicate the picture even more than our tables already suggest.
