The Lewis-Palmer High School Drama Club closed out its fall senior play, "Clue," with a lively performance that showcased the energy and talent of its graduating class.
Directed by theater teacher Kris Lilley, the show stayed true to the spirit of the 1985 film, from its dark humor to its quirky characters. The ensemble brought strong chemistry to the stage, whether trading witty banter, reenacting the film's best scenes or pulling off a memorable finale. Memorable moments included a high-energy performance by the actor playing Wadsworth, a singing telegram and the commitment of the "corpses" who remained still onstage for entire acts.
"Clue" was selected because of the large senior class, and every role was filled by a senior cast member.
With "Clue" now behind them, the club is already looking forward to a packed schedule of productions. Next up is "Into the Woods," with an audition camp scheduled for Sept. 18 and auditions set for Sept. 23-25 and is open to Lewis-Palmer students as well as those who are homeschooled or out of district who want to be involved . The musical will run Nov. 13-15.
Later this school year, the club plans to stage two additional musicals, with the second expected to be a larger production open to all students. February will feature a series of one-act plays. Past years have included classics such as "Macbeth" and "Around the World in 80 Days."
Most shows are open to the public, with at least one performance each year dedicated to local elementary students. The theater program also depends on community support through restaurant giveback nights, donation drives and sponsorships.
The club is currently seeking local sponsors to help with future shows. Those interested can contact theater teacher Kris Lilley at [email protected].
