GRESHAM Ore. (KPTV) - A person walking on the sidewalk was struck and killed by a car that also hit a power pole Saturday night, according to the Gresham Police Department.

At about 5:30 p.m., police were called to the scene of the accident on Northeast 181st Avenue near Northeast Pacific Street. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the driver stayed at the scene, and cooperated with an investigation. The cause of the crash has not been made clear, and it is not known at this time if the driver involved was impaired at the time of the accident.

Northeast 181st Avenue was closed in the area for several hours Saturday night during the investigation, but has since reopened.

Police say that no power outages were reported as the result of the driver hitting the utility pole.
