'60 Minutes' Host Scott Pelley Criticized By MAGA Supporters For Anti-Trump Wake Forrest Commencement Speech - uInterview

Scott Pelley, a host of 60 Minutes, was slammed on social media by MAGA supporters for delivering an anti-President Donald Trump speech at Wake Forrest University in North Carolina.

Trump filed a $20 billion lawsuit against CBS over its editing of an interview with Kamala Harris last fall. The network is reportedly trying to settle with Trump so the sale of its parent company, Paramount, can proceed without interference.

"Your country needs you," Pelley declared before Wake Forest's graduating class. "The country that has given you so much is calling you the class of 2025. Your country needs you, and it needs you today."

"We discuss, not destroy. But in this moment, this morning, our sacred rule of law is under attack. Journalism is under attack. Universities are under attack. Freedom of speech is under attack.

"And insidious fear is reaching through our schools, our businesses, our homes, and into our private thoughts. The fear to speak in America - if our government is, in [Abraham Lincoln's] phrase, 'Of the people, by the people, for the people,' then why are we afraid to speak?

"You are not descended of fearful people. You brought your values to school with you, and now Wake Forest has trained you to seek the truth, to find the meaning of life."

"First, make the truth seekers live in fear," the reporter declared. "Sue the journalists and their companies for nothing. Then, send masked agents to abduct a college student who wrote an editorial in her college paper defending Palestinian rights, and send her to a prison in Louisiana, charged with nothing. Then, move to destroy the law firms that stand up for the rights of others.

"With that done, power can rewrite history with grotesque, false narratives. They can make criminals heroes and heroes criminals.

"Power can change the definition of the words we use to describe reality. Diversity is now described as illegal. Equity is to be shunned. Inclusion is a dirty word. This is an old playbook, my friends. There's nothing new in this."

Pelley soon received backlash from X users over the anti-Trump comments he made during his commencement speech.

"At Wake Forest University's commencement today, Scott Pelley criticized Trump for allegedly undermining the free press, despite Pelley's platform on 60 Minutes," one X user wrote. "Commencement speeches are meant to be a joyous send-off, not a politicized rant."

"CBS's Scott Pelley is a leftwing propagandist, but his unhinged anti-Trump commencement speech should've ended his fake career as a journalist if journalism still existed in America," broadcast news analyst Mark Levin mentioned on X.

"These commencement speakers are getting ridiculous with their political ideology," another user wrote on the platform. "The latest being Scott Pelley from 60 Minutes. He spent a good part of his speech trashing our President. It wasn't at all inspirational and must have been offensive to many in the class."
