Outlander: Blood of My Blood is set to feature a pivotal character from Outlander in its season one finale, after viewers were left in suspense following the show's brief break with only a teaser to keep them satisfied, reports the Daily Record.

An announcement on the programme's official Instagram account declared: "I know some of you have been waiting for this moment! Henry's brother Quentin aka Uncle Lamb is coming to this week's #BloodOfMyBlood finale."

The message accompanied a photograph of Uncle Lamb (portrayed by George Kemp) crouched in the sand beside the ocean whilst clutching a shell, highlighting his passion for archaeology and historical studies.

Numerous Outlander enthusiasts flocked to the comments beneath the Instagram announcement to express their excitement.

One viewer commented: "At last! After 7 incredible seasons of Outlander, one more to come with Season 8, and 10 episodes of Blood of My Blood, we'll finally meet the man who shaped Claire - her uncle, Lamb."

Meanwhile, another remarked: "Henry's brother? Good casting as he looks similar to Jeremy."

A third observed: "Of course he's arriving for the finale! Maybe we will get to see our wee Claire too?"

A fourth enthusiast added: "I've been wanting more of a story of his life with young Claire for so many years!" One viewer remarked: "I hadn't thought about him for ages. But now it occurs to me what if he was a traveller too?

"That's why he was fascinated with history... Suspicious Claire may be able to travel... brought her up to be the way she is... so she could survive if/ when she travelled. Kind of like Frank taught Brianna a few things like chopping woods, shooting, building fires [sic]."

Starz has previously confirmed that this character will make an appearance in the prequel series of Outlander, but so far, he's only been mentioned by name.

Uncle Lamb made his appearance through flashbacks in the first season of Outlander, portrayed by actor Prentis Hancock.

Claire Fraser (Caitríona Balfe) shared details about her unconventional upbringing and globe-trotting adventures with her archaeologist uncle after she declined to attend boarding school.

Her uncle essentially became her main parental figure after she believed her parents had died in a car accident, and he had a significant impact on Claire.

Furthermore, thanks to Uncle Lamb, Claire met her first husband and historian, Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies).

Unfortunately, Uncle Lamb met a tragic end when he was killed during the Blitz after the auditorium where he was giving a lecture was bombed.
