Amid questions over whether Daredevil: Born Again would return for a third season, a Marvel executive finally revealed what the future holds for the Disney+ series. The character of Daredevil made his modern day small-screen debut on Netflix in 2015 as part of an effort to create a TV version of the Avengers with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist that culminated in the ensemble series The Defenders.
All of these shows were eventually canceled, but Disney revived Daredevil on Disney+ earlier this year via the brand-new show Born Again with stars Charlie Cox, Vincent D'Onofrio, Margarita Levieva, Deborah Ann Woll and Wilson Bethel. Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is expected to premiere in 2026.
During an interview with IGN, Marvel Studios executive Brad Winderbaum confirmed that Disney is moving forward with Daredevil: Born Again season 3, which will begin filming in 2026. No other information was revealed about the future of this series, but Winderbaum's comment settled speculation among fans after Cox called Daredevil: Born Again season 2 the final installment.
"In terms of Daredevil, yeah, we are greenlit for season 3, and we start shooting next year."
After Winderbaum's announcement, D'Onofrio, who plays Wilson Fisk/Kingpin on Daredevil: Born Again, tweeted the number "3," referring to the show getting picked up for a third season. While replying to a fan, the cast member confirmed that season 2 is "complete" and it's "emotional, chaotic and just plain Bat S*** Crazy!"
What Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 Announcement Means
Daredevil: Born Again had a very bumpy road leading up to its premiere in March 2025. There were originally supposed to be 18 episodes in the first season, which later decreased to nine. After filming got underway, Marvel was reportedly not happy with the direction the show was going in, and there was confusion over whether Born Again was a reboot or a revival of the series on Netflix, so they retooled the show and made various behind-the-scenes changes.
This chaotic production could have resulted in Marvel deciding to end the series after only two seasons. However, executives must be pleased with the way season 2 has turned out and feel confident that a third installment is worth the effort. Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is likely to be high quality and resolve any creative or production issues they faced the first time around.
Daredevil is a fan-favorite character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so Winderbaum's announcement will likely be met with excitement from fans. With Disney+ not making as many shows as they used to, the streaming service needs programming that fans will gravitate towards. When it comes to Marvel specifically, a show like Daredevil can satisfy that demand from fans.
Our Take On Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 Renewal
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is expected to cater to fans in major ways. The storylines will incorporate other characters from the Netflix shows, like Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones and the return of Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher.
Those appearances alone should result in more viewers tuning in for the second season. Daredevil: Born Again has an 87% score on Rotten Tomatoes. If Marvel is pleased with the direction of season 2, then fans should expect even better reviews next time around.
The third season will hopefully continue everything that works from a creative standpoint and build upon the successes to make Daredevil: Born Again a top-tier show for Disney+. The character had a brief appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and while it's unclear if he'll show up again on the big screen via Avengers: Doomsday or another project, for now, fans can look forward to at least two more seasons of Daredevil: Born Again.
