Authorities Discovered the Decomposed Body Inside an Abandoned Vehicle
Authorities have identified the body discovered in the front trunk of a Tesla registered to popular recording artist D4vd as a teenage girl, according to law enforcement sources.
The discovery was made on September 8 when Los Angeles police were called to a tow yard near Mansfield Avenue and Romaine Street in Hollywood after workers reported a foul odor coming from the vehicle. Investigators say the Tesla had been at the lot for two days after being towed from Bluebird Avenue and Doheny Drive, where it had been found abandoned.
Officers opened the vehicle and found a bag containing a decomposed body in the front trunk, police sources said. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office has not yet determined a cause of death.
The Tesla is registered to singer David Anthony Burke, known professionally as D4vd, whose songs include "Here With Me" and "Romantic Homicide". Authorities have not indicated whether Burke has any connection to the case beyond ownership of the vehicle.
Investigators described the victim as a girl with wavy black hair, standing about 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 71 pounds. She was wearing a tube top, black leggings, a yellow metal bracelet, and metal stud earrings. A tattoo on her right index finger read "Shhh..."
Detectives believe the body may have been placed in the trunk roughly five days before the car was towed. Because of the state of decomposition, investigators are relying on forensic testing to confirm the victim's identity and to determine how she died.
No suspects or persons of interest have been publicly identified. The investigation remains ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to contact the Los Angeles Police Department.
