Tyrese Haliburton put up an iconic performance on Wednesday night in one of the greatest playoff comebacks in NBA history. He tallied 32 points and 11 assists, but the standout moment was when he hit a buzzer-beater off a fortunate bounce that sent the game into overtime.
The Indiana Pacers won, taking a 1-0 lead over the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference finals. Haliburton's performance certainly drew many people's attention, as he willed the Pacers to a surprising victory.
Among them was Boston Celtics alum Evan Turner, who also briefly played for the Pacers, though that was several years before Haliburton joined the team.
Turner revealed his feelings towards Haliburton as a player via his X account, where he admitted that he changed his mind on the Pacers star. Previously not a fan, Turner admitted he is done "hating" on Haliburton amid his postseason heroics.
"Im done hating on haliburton," Turner wrote. "Just a waste of time at this point."
Turner later explained that his "hating" stemmed from his belief that Haliburton shouldn't have been on Team USA last year. Still, Turner's post drew plenty of ire from fans who don't understand why he hated in the first place.
"Why would you hate on him in the first place?" one fan asked.
"What took you so long???" another asked.
Other fans let Turner know he was too late to become a Haliburton fan.
Another fan used how Haliburton compared to Turner to criticize him.
"You prolly shouldn't be hating anyway he has surpassed your play level and he's surpassed all his ceilings," one fan wrote.
Turner was the No. 2 pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, but he did not live up to expectations. After his poor tenure with the Pacers, he salvaged his career with the Celtics and went on to play until 2020.
