Cam Newton has weighed in on the fiasco surrounding Bill Belichick and his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson.
The former New England Patriots quarterback took a deep dive into the topic on a recent episode of his podcast, "4th & 1 with Cam Newton." The former quarterback weighed in, noting that all the attention is on Belichick's 24-year-old girlfriend instead of his new team.
"North Carolina didn't sign up for all these shenanigans off-field," Newton said. "We're talking more about Jordon Hudson than talking about who's our starting quarterback. Hello, you can't name me three players on North Carolina's roster right now - besides Jordon Hudson."
Newton played one season with Belichick during the 2020 season. Since then, he's always had positive things to say about the former Patriots coach.
Even in the segment, Newton said that the first thing that comes to mind when he hears "Belichick" is "greatest coach of all time."
Well, that's until Hudson entered the equation. Now, Newton says Belichick has broken one of his own cardinal rules.
"While he has been the helm of being a head coach, he's always led with this: 'Do not be a distraction,'" Newton said.
Hudson's presence, from being spotted at Chapel Hill to making headlines nationwide, has been a distraction.
With that said, Newton appears to have nothing against Hudson personally, nothing that she has "shimmied her way into relevance."
Although, Newton did say that he'd personally avoid the type of age gap that is present in the Belichick-Hudson relationship.
"I'm gonna be the one that says it. We all need to sign the petition. Hate me, despise me, but somebody's gotta keep it real. Date your age," Newton said.
