Chart-topping Irish band announce split

Irish pop-rock band Kodaline have announced their decision to split.

The four-piece, which comprises of members Steve Garrigan, Vincent May, Mark Prendergast, and Jason Boland, formed as 21 Demands in 2005 before changing their name to Kodaline in 2011.

They have released four albums, including their 2013 breakthrough debut, In a Perfect World, which contained the hit singles 'High Hopes', 'Love Like This', and 'Brand New Day'. It charted at three in the UK and number one in Ireland.

It has been five years since their last album, 2020's One Day at a Time, and Kodaline have not performed live since their sub-headline slot at Electric Picnic in Ireland in 2024.

Now, they have revealed they are heading to the studio to make one last album before ending their career as Kodaline.

They announced in a video message to fans, "After over a decade together we've made the difficult decision to say goodbye to Kodaline."

Kodaline continued, "It might come as a surprise, and it's definitely bittersweet for us too. What we've shared has changed our lives forever. From busking on the streets of Dublin to playing shows across the world, it really has been the stuff that dreams are made of."

Elaborating on their reasoning why they believe now is the right time to call it a day, they added, "We want it to end on a high, so before we say goodbye, we're heading into the studio one last time to record our fifth and final album as Kodaline."

Their emotional message concluded, "We are, and always will be, forever grateful for your love and support. It's been a journey that we'll never forget and we hope that the music stays with you long after we're gone."
