Several areas in Batangas and nearby localities, including parts of Calabarzon and Metro Manila, where shaken early Wednesday morning when a magnitude-5.1 tremor struck Calaca City at 12:43 a.m.

In an updated bulletin, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the tectonic quake was traced at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Calaca City felt it at Intensity 5 while the towns onlf Alitagtag and Cuenca, as well as Tagaytay City in Cavite, were reported at Intensity 4.

Other areas outside Batangas including selected Metro Manila cities, parts of Laguna, Bataan and the Mindoro Islands were likewise affected at varying levels of reported and instrumental intensities.

Phivolcs warned that aftershocks and damage to properties were expected from this seismic event.
